NECHE

The University of Maine System (UMS) holds unified accreditation from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), a status effective since July 2020. NECHE accreditation is an indication of academic and institutional quality. All UMS campuses, including the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) are included in this unified accreditation. This innovative approach accredits the system’s campuses jointly, rather than individually. The next comprehensive evaluation for this unified accreditation is scheduled for Fall 2032.

SAF

The Society of American Foresters (SAF) has awarded UMFK’s Applied Forest Management Program with accreditation through 2028. This makes UMFK the only SAF nationally accredited associate forestry program in Maine and one of only two in New England. Currently, our job-to-student ratio is very high, and graduates from the UMFK Applied Forest Management Program consistently go on to lead successful careers in the field. It is a good time to study forest management at UMFK.
