Committees of the Board of Visitors

Advocacy Committee

In accordance with the Board’s enabling legislation, advocates the mission, goals, and objectives of the University of Maine at Fort Kent to external constituencies. The Advocacy Committee also acts to convey to the community the central importance of the University and to create mutually supportive linkages between the University and local, regional, and statewide public constituencies. The Committee guides the Board of Visitors initiatives to maintain good lines of communication to University of Maine Board of Trustees and with State government. (Standing Committee)

Planning and Development Committee

In accordance with the Board’s enabling legislation, reviews institutional strategic plans and provides constituent input into the institutional strategic planning processes prior to Board of Trustees consideration. Helps communicate institutional strategic goals to other external stakeholder groups (such as the UMFK Foundation and Alumni Association). Aligns Board of Visitors’ planning efforts with institutional strategic goals. (Standing Committee)

Nominating Committee

Coordinates and ensures membership is current and meets requirements. The Committee provides recommendations of new members to the Board Executive Committee when members are meeting their end-term commitments.

Special Projects Committee

Coordinates the work of special projects sub-committees. The Committee may appoint subcommittees of not less than two voting Board members to consider such specific business as it deems necessary or as directed by the Board or the President of the Board. (Standing Committee)
