About Stacy’s Closet

Rene recognized that for many students, finding success in college is about more than academics — it’s also about having access to everyday essentials. For some, even simple items like toothpaste, soap, shampoo, or laundry supplies can be difficult to afford or obtain, and that gap can create real stress that affects their ability to continue at UMFK.

Stacy, who passed in 2012, was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering compassion. She never hesitated to help others; her spirit of giving lives on through this closet. Each time a student finds clothing, winter gear, pantry essentials, or personal items here, they are experiencing the same care and dignity that Stacy embodied.

More than a closet, this space is a tribute of remembrance and hope — a place where Stacy’s legacy continues to meet student needs while reminding them that they are supported, that they belong, and that their success matters.
