How to Apply

Early College Course Application Steps

1. UMS Early College Portal: Students must initiate the application process for any UMFK Early College course they wish to apply for through their student ExplorEC account.
2. Login and/or Create an Account: If the student hasn’t created an account, please create an account as a student using a reliable email address that is checked often. This email address will be used as your login username for this portal and will be used to send further information regarding your course. Please double-check your email spelling, and check this email often.
3. Search and Apply: Search and apply for the course you are interested in through your ExplorEC homepage/tile.
4. Course Approvals: School Administrators must approve all applications, and are alerted via email. They review each student application and determine if the student should be approved for further consideration at each campus. These Administrators will need their own ExplorEC account as well.
   • School Administrators are allowed to not approve courses if they feel it is not a good fit.
   • Home-educated students will need to get their application approved using these steps.
   • Only courses that are “approved” will be considered for campus review.

ExplorEC opens for early college course application submissions on:

• Summer: Typically the second Friday in February
• Fall: Typically the first Friday in April
• Spring: Typically the first Friday in November

For Online and On-Campus Courses: All completed applications and application steps are due a week before the start date of your requested course term in ExplorEC to be considered for registration.

For Concurrent Courses: All completed applications and application steps are due by: OCT 8 for fall and full year courses and FEB 8 for spring courses, in ExplorEC to be considered for registration.

Course registration is subject to space availability, and registration will be confirmed via email. The processing of your application may take a minimum of  2-5 business days.
