Brief Biography

Matthew Curran currently teaches criminal justice courses within the Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in the Conservation Law Enforcement Degree Program and the Criminal Justice Degree Program. He is Program Lead for both and is responsible for ensuring current course offerings directly relate to the foundation of knowledge required by law enforcement agencies. Mr. Curran serves as chair of the UMFK Law Enforcement Advisory Council, which is comprised of thirteen city, state, county, and federal law enforcement agencies that provide updates on the evolving needs of the criminal justice field.  Mr. Curran completed his undergraduate studies at UMFK and is passionate about providing a high level of education to future law enforcement professionals. Prior to UMFK, he joined the United States Border Patrol in 1997 and served in numerous field and leadership positions around the country including Texas, Georgia, Maine, New Mexico, Vermont, Minnesota, North Dakota, and the headquarters in Washington, D.C. Matt is married and has one daughter who is a registered nurse and a son who is a pilot. When not on campus watching students compete on the field or on the court, Matt and his wife enjoy hunting, fishing, mountain biking, and camping.
