UMFK Hosts Scientific Speaker Series Featuring Biologist Dr. Brittany Slabach
The University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) invites students, faculty, and community members to a presentation as part of its Scientific Speaker Series on October 29, 2026. The featured guest speaker will be field ecologist and biologist Dr. Brittany Slabach.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. in Nadeau Hall. The talk is free and open to the public.
Dr. Slabach’s research centers on how dynamic landscapes, environmental disturbances, and human recreation influence wildlife communities. Her work spans a wide variety of species—including mammals, reptiles, and birds—utilizing field techniques such as wildlife trapping, camera surveys, vegetation sampling, mapping, and molecular techniques.
During her presentation, Dr. Slabach will discuss her passion for wildlife ecology, highlight her scientific research, and share her experiences studying wildlife in Maine and beyond.
UMFK students can earn 500 Paw Points for attending the presentation.
