The University of Maine at Fort Kent is pleased to announce their annual awards and scholarships that were recently presented to both undergraduate students and those who graduated this spring. These awards and scholarships are presented to deserving students for their contributions to campus and their academic achievements.
John L. Martin Environmental Scholarship Award was presented to Jacob Rockwell (Yarmouth, ME). The Hubert J. Thibodeau Award was presented to Tasha Jeffers (Fort Kent). Adam Bagley (Parkman, ME) and Andrew Boutin (Williston, VT) was presented the Thomas S. Pinkham Memorial Scholarship.
Cody Chapa (Strathmore, CA) was honored with the Student Senate Outstanding Senior.
The Teacher Education Award, given in recognition of academic excellence and expected future contributions within the area in education, was presented to Christina Small (Monticello, GA).
Georgii Safonov (Kyiv, Ukraine) was awarded the Performing Arts Award, which is given to a student, who has made major contributions and outstanding achievements in university theatre productions.
Mikayla Michaud (St. Francis) was named the recipient of the Roland A. Burns Award in the Arts and Humanities. The award is given in recognition of academic excellence and expected future contributions within the area of the arts and humanities degree program and she was the recipient of the Grindle Award, which is presented annually to a student who shows great promise in the area of the history.
Bailee Robichaud (Frenchville) was honored with the Behavioral Science Award, which is given to an academically-strong graduating senior, who has either majored or minored in the behavioral sciences program.
The Environmental Studies Award was presented to Meagan Pelletier (St. John Plantation) for her outstanding achievement and work in the major area of study.
The Biology Award was presented to Oksana Hryniuk (Greensburg, IL) which is given to a student in recognition of academic excellence and expected future contributions within the area of biology.
For his outstanding achievement and positive attitude toward learning, forestry student Alexander Gillis (Nashville Plantation, ME) was presented with the Applied Forest Management Award.
The Cybersecurity Award was presented to John Hasselmann (Herman, ME) for his academic excellence and expected future contributions within the area of cybersecurity.
The Business Management Award was presented to Vanesa Pelletier (Frenchville) for her outstanding work completing the degree program.
Trevor Bouchard (Fort Kent) received the Criminal Justice Award for her academic achievement and demonstrated active in the discipline.
The Conservation Law Enforcement Award was given to Alissa Lutz (Plymouth, MA) in recognition of academic excellence and future contributions within the area of conservation law enforcement.
Three separate awards were presented to UMFK nursing students. The Outstanding Traditional Nursing Award was presented to Hannah Streinz (Hersey, ME) and Samantha Wenzel (Auburn, ME). The Outstanding RN-BSN Award was awarded to Charlotte Grass (Bridgewater, ME) and Kim White (Presque Isle). The Outstanding Accelerated Nursing Award was presented to Arianne Kryskow (Fort Kent) and Hope Wilson (Carrabassett Valley, ME).
The Faculty Academic Achievement Awards were presented to Valedictorian Steffany Caron (Fort Kent) and Salutatorian Krystal Kingsbury (Presque Isle).
Anna Lewis (Fort Kent) earned the Associate of Arts Academic Achievement Award for her outstanding work toward attaining a two-year degree.
The Associate of Science Academic Achievement Award was awarded to Alexander Gillis for his outstanding work toward attaining a two-year degree.
The Dean's Award, which is awarded to a junior or senior student with a high grade point average and has demonstrated scholarly attributes, was presented to Glenroy Osbourne (Fort Kent).
The Presidential Award for Academic Excellence is awarded to students who have achieved the Dean's List for seven consecutive semesters. Steffany Caron; Nicholas Clark (Easton, ME); Ericka Garino (Guayaquil, Ecuador); Samantha Jackson (Junction City, OR); Max Jandreau (Fort Kent) Krystal Kingsbury; Jessica Lowry (Mapleton); Jasmine McDonald (Brooksville, ME); and Vanesa Pelletier.
The Haenssler Prize Award, which is given to a graduating senior who has shown courage in overcoming all obstacles in achieving high academic standing, was presented to Ahkeim Forbes (Kingston, Jamaica); Sara Gilson (Presque Isle); and Sarah Locke Brown (Swithville, TN).
