Junior forward Whitney Sinclair (Dexter, Maine) scored an unassisted game winning goal in the 87th minute to lead the University of Maine Fort Kent women's soccer team over Emmanuel College 2-1 at the Husson Classic in Bangor, Maine.  The win earned the Lady Bengals a split of two matches played at Husson's Bucher Field as they lost 5-0 to Norwich University on Saturday.  UMFK opens the season 3-1, playing three matches in three days.  They will next play Saturday September 11, when they open conference play in Fort Kent verse Vermont Technical College.

On Sunday, forward Donike Ferriera (So., Montego Bay, Jamaica) scored the games opening goal and the only tally of the first half when she scored in the 24th minute on an assist from Sinclair.  Emmanuel would score the equalizer in the second half off a skirmish in the box in the 73rd minute, setting up Sinclair's heroics.

UMFK keeper Mindy Morneault (Sr., Eagle Lake, Maine) helped make-up for a 15-11 shot advantage for Emmanuel (1-1-) by making fourteen big saves while Emmanuel's Beatrix Hassler made nine.
