March 18, 2019

Scott Voisine name Maine's ACT Postseconary ChampionThe University of Maine at Fort Kent’s Scott Voisine was recently named Maine’s ACT Postsecondary Champion.

The ACT College and Career Readiness Champions are high school seniors, K-12 professionals, postsecondary professionals and workforce professionals who are making a positive impact on their communities through their efforts to advance college and career readiness for all. The ACT College and Career Readiness Champions are individuals across the country who support ACT’s mission of education and workplace success.

“Scott’s leadership of Rural U and our Early College programs, and his office’s attention to middle school students, has worked to align our curricula while raising the aspirations of K-12 students in our network,” said UMFK President John Short.  “We are committed to partnering with others to continue these efforts in the future.”

ACT State Councils are comprised of education and workforce professionals from all 50 states and serve as the selection committee. They select one Champion per category for each participating state.

“It’s an honor being recognized by ACT for work that is truly a passion of mine,” said Voisine. “The work it honors would not be possible if it were not the amazing team in the Community Education Office at UMFK and for a campus administration that has been continually supportive of middle school and high school outreach as an integral part of the mission of the institution.”

“We all know inspiring individuals who work tirelessly for the advancement of college and career readiness for all students,” said ACT Senior Vice President of State and Federal Programs Scott Montgomery. “The ACT College and Career Readiness Champions initiative lifts up their stories so that more people can be inspired to find their own path to success through the motivation and determination of the seniors, K-12, postsecondary and workforce champions leading the way.”
