The University of Maine at Fort Kent's Blake Library Gallery will feature an exhibit of photographs by UMFK alumnus Darrell McBreairty of Allagash, entitled "Ice Jam." The photos portray the power, beauty and destructive ability of the St. John River in a series of photographs that documented the ice jam of 1991 in Allagash, Maine.
The collection of photographs will be on display beginning Friday, November 3 and the exhibit will run throughout the month.
Utilizing both black and white and color mediums, McBreairty captures the devastation and the slow revival of a section of the Town of Allagash that is centered around the St. John River Bridge.
McBreairty's collections can be viewed in the Blake Library Gallery Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Fridays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
