UMFK education students present annual book fair

October 21, 2005

The University of Maine at Fort Kent will be holding its annual fall book fair on November 1, 2 and 3 in the Bengal's Lair in Cyr Hall.

The event is being held from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The book fair is sponsored by the students in UMFK's elementary education degree program.

The fair is open to the public and will feature books for everyone, all ages and all interests.

Dr. Terry Murphy, professor of education, is working with the education students at coordinating the event. She encourages people to come to the Bengal's Lair to do some early Christmas shopping and give the gift of literacy. All proceeds are donated to the Blake Library.

"This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a gift that keeps on giving. In addition, having our students take part in coordinating an event of this nature is most appropriate, as they are encouraging all who participate to expand their horizons through reading," said Murphy.
