VA to deploy mobile counseling center to Fort Kent

October 19, 2009

The Caribou Veterans Center has recently acquired a traveling van which brings information about these services to our local area. To promote their services, the traveling van will be in Fort Kent on Tuesday, November 3 (Election Day).

The van will be on displayed in two locations, first at the University of Maine at Fort Kent from 4 until 6:30 p.m. in the Cyr Hall parking lot, then at the Customs parking lot, located across the Fort Kent Town Office, from 6:45 to 9 p.m.

Please note that this is open to any veteran or veteran dependent. This is a great opportunity to see the services that are available to those who have served their country in the military. All are invited.

The 38-foot motor coach, which has space for confidential counseling, will carry Vet Center counselors and outreach workers who provides a wide range of  counseling, outreach, and referral services to eligible veterans and their families.

Services offered will include: Crisis intervention, individual counseling, couples/marital counseling, family counseling, group counseling, substance abuse (aftercare referral), employment counseling, medical referrals, VA benefits information and referral, discharge upgrade information, networking and referral, community education, and consultation to professionals.

The Vet Center staff respects the privacy of all veterans and their families and we hold in strictest confidence all information disclosed in the counseling process. No information will be communicated to any person or agency without written consent (except in circumstances to avert a potentially life-threatening crisis- Privacy Act, 1975). All records related to treatment are strictly confidential.
