The University of Maine at Fort Kent student nurses’ organization (SNO) will host a benefit run and walk race on Saturday, November 1. Race time is set for 10 a.m. and is open to all age groups.
The race will consist of four different categories: a 5k and 10k run and a 5k and 10k walk. The fee for each category is $10 and $5 for children under 12 and seniors over 65. Individuals who were a costume will pay half the registration cost.
Race-day registration and number pick-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the UMFK Sports Center. Participants who register before Saturday, October 25 will receive a race t-shirt. T-shirts also will be on sale the day of the race for $8. The entry fee is waived for those who raise $20 in sponsorship funds.
Racers will utilize the Heritage Trail. The course does include a few road crossings. If there is snow, the course will be mapped out.
Racers will compete in four different age groups: under age 12; ages 12 through 19; ages 20 through 29; ages 30 through 39 and ages 40 through 49; ages 50 through 59; ages 60 through 69 and ages 70 and up.
The awards ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the UMFK Sports Center. Awards will be presented to the top runner overall along with the top two runners in each age division. An award also will be given to the fastest time among walkers as well.
