The University of Maine at Fort Kent’s Academic & Counseling Services office is pleased to announce that one of its peer mentors, Trudy Landeen (shown here, center, with glasses), a nursing student in her Junior year at UMFK, is looking out for other students in a holistic manner. Trudy contacted Community Crusade for Children Inc. (CCC), whose mission it is to aid in the costs associated with the education of young people in the community. CCC delivered a large collection of donated clothing, as well as other items including handbags, sheets, blankets, towels, and book bags for students attending UMFK. The items received were worth more than $4,000. Many of the items were new, all were fashionable, and everything was FREE to the students. According to CCC, this can be an ongoing activity with UMFK. The program was a huge success, and students very much appreciated the kind gesture.
