Biology and Environmental Studies Students to Present at UMFK

November 29, 2010

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Biology and Environmental Studies faculty and the students in the Senior Projects class invite the public to its annual Senior Projects presentations on the evenings of Wednesday, December 8 and Thursday, December 9 in the Nadeau Hall teleconference room from 6 to 8 p.m.

Over the course of the two evenings, eighteen graduating seniors will present the results of the research they have conducted on a variety of subjects in the fields of biology and environmental studies.
Senior Projects is a two-semester course that began for these students during the spring semester of 2010. Students are skilled in the art of scientific writing, learning how to use the scientific literature and develop a research proposal. Each student selects a research topic that reflects their individualized program and career interests and then are charged with the responsibility of conducting a literature search, collecting and recording data, and preparing a written research paper with results and conclusions.
In addition to the final written report and oral presentation, students also prepare posters on their research. Posters will be presented on Tuesday, December 14, from 8 to 10 a.m., in Cyr Hall room 113.
