The University of Maine at Fort Kent men and women's basketball teams are looking ahead to a new year as they prepare to officially open their season's at the annual Bengal Tip-Off Tournament on November 12, 13 and 14, at the UMFK SportsCenter.
"We are very excited about the start of the new season," said Eric Werntgen, assistant athletic director and head men's basketball coach. "The Bengal Tip-off Tourney is always both a time of reflection and a glimpse into the future of our basketball program."
Friday, November 12, will begin with the Women's Bengal Tip-Off Tournament at 6:00 p.m. in the SportsCenter. The first contest will take place between Mount Allison University of Sackville, New Brunswick and University of Maine at Machias, followed at 8:00 p.m. with a contest between the women's teams from Central Maine Community College of South Paris, Maine and UMFK.
The women's consolation game will take place on Saturday, November 13 at 11:00 a.m. followed by the women's championship game at 1:00 p.m. in the SportsCenter.
The Men's Bengal Tip-Off Tourney will begin at 4:00 p.m. when Mount Allison University will challenge University of Maine at Machias followed by Central Maine Community College challenging UMFK at 6:00 p.m. in the SportsCenter.
The men's consolation game will take place on Sunday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m. and the championship game will be played at 1:00 p.m.
The players are looking forward to the three days of action packed basketball and wish to invite their fans and the community to the SportsCenter to cheer them on.
