UMFK to offer youth basketball camp

The University of Maine at Fort Kent will offer a basketball camp for area youth this summer. Registration is open to children entering kindergarten through eighth grades.

Bengal Basketball Camp is scheduled for both girls and boys. The girls? session will begin Sunday, June 18 through Thursday, June 22 and the boys? session will begin Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30.

Camp sessions will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In depth and individualized instruction in an extremely competitive, fun environment will be offered during the two weeks.

Both camps will feature experienced staff of college and high school coaches and players who will work closely with campers, stressing fundamentals and improvement of skills. Guest lectures, demonstrations, contests, and games will round out the week long camp

Participants also will receive a camp T-shirt, awards and evaluations.

The cost of each camp is $50 and discounted rates are available for children attending both camps, families enrolling more than one camper, and children in financial need.

The camps continue to be popular with local residents as well as visitors who spend their summers in the Valley.
