UMFK employees recognized for years of dedicated service

The University of Maine at Fort Kent honored members of its faculty and staff for their service to the University at a recent ceremony on campus. Special awards were given to employees who have been at UMFK for five, ten, twenty, twenty-five, and thirty-five years of service.

President Wilson G. Hess presented the honors following touching and humorous tributes to honorees by fellow faculty and staff.
Thirty-five years of service awards were presented to Jeffrey Plourde, building and grounds maintenance supervisor and Dr. Steven Selva, professor of biology and environmental studies.
Dr. Rameen Aryana, professor of chemistry and physics and David Hobbins, professor of forestry and environmental studies, were recognized for twenty-five years of service.
Twenty years of service honoree was Dr. Rachel E. Albert, vice president for academic affairs.
Sofia Birden, associate director of Blake Library; Eric Bouchard, building and grounds maintenance worker; Steven Bossie, building and grounds maintenance worker; Anne Chamberland, library assistant II for the Acadian Archives/Archives acadienne; Anthony Gauvin, associate professor of e-commerce; and Angela Theriault, academic coordinator for Student Support Services were all recognized for ten years of service.
Recognition for five years of service were William Ashby, director of athletics; Diane Gagne, administrative assistant for the nursing division; Terence Kelly, director of university relations and alumni affairs; Dr. Doris Metz, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction; Steve Michaud, web technician; Bruce Nadeau, admissions counselor; and Diana White, assistant professor of mental health nursing.
In addition to honoring employees, a special thank you was given to retiring employees Annette Grant, administrative assistant for the Registrar’s office, for her twenty-seven years of service; Darlene Martin, administrative assistant for student teaching, for her thirty-one years of service; Jerry Nadeau, associate director of Admissions, for his twenty-nine years of service; and Registrar Donald Raymond for his thirty-six years of service.
