The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host an appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, March 12 to recognize the continued efforts and cooperation of the Fort Kent Police Department in maintaining a safe campus environment
“UMFK does not have its own police department like many large campuses and we depend on our local police department,” said Scott Voisine, director of student affairs.
When incidents occur on campus, such as in the residential halls or off campus, or when it involves students, the Fort Kent Police Department is there to assist. Members of the department also maintain communication with Voisine and his staff during investigations and dealing with campus security issues.
In addition, the police department often is consulted in how to deal with campus crime and infractions. The department has been great about letting the UMFK campus handle most problems internally, but always is willing and able to step in when needed to provide the extra support.
