Submit your writing and be a part of MYTHiCRAFT

March 25, 2011

The University of Maine at Fort Kent and The Aroostook Review will present MYTHiCRAFT: A Writer’s Retreat and Storytelling Symposium with a theme - “Our Stories - Ourselves” to be held on May 18-21 on the University campus. The writer’s retreat will include workshops on fiction and poetry writing. The symposium will feature papers, presentations, and narratives. Each evening we will have keynote presentations, featured readers and open mics.

Enrollment is limited in the workshops. Applicants should submit samples of their writing. The coordinators would like to see an abstract of a paper or presentation proposal for the symposium, or one story or three to five poems for the creative writing workshops before registration. For more details on submitting your work for consideration, or for more information on registration, please contact us at:
Participants will share work they have already written and craft some new work under the guidance of experienced, published writers. Teachers and storytellers may also share their current research on myth, stories, legends, traditions, culture, heritage, etc
Papers may represent disciplines including but not limited to storytelling, folklore, cultural studies, communication, English, education, library science, health care, business, peace studies, psychology, sociology, anthropology, pop culture, theatre and performance studies. Short stories, poetry and works of literary criticism will, of course, be considered for publication in The Aroostook Review.
