ACADIAN ARCHIVES/ARCHIVES ACADIENNES TO HOST EXHIBIT OF VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETIES

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Acadian Archives/Archives Acadiennes will host a month-long exhibit by the collaboration of local historical and cultural organizations in the Saint John Valley.

The exhibit will officially open immediately after the UMFK’s annual Sucrerie, which will take place at Nowland Hall on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Les Chanteurs Acadiens will be performing traditional and new songs from their repertoire at the Archives.

Included in the exhibit will be items such as a veterans’ display from the Ste-Agathe Historical Society; unique artifacts from l’Association culturelle et historique du Mont Carmel located in Lille, Maine; photographs from the Madawaska Historical Society; and a collection from the Wesget Sipu Native American organization.
