UMFK to host Career Day for students and community members

March 17, 2006

University of Maine at Fort Kent student success coordinator Kate Fecinta will be hosting a Career Day for University students and community members on Wednesday, April 5.

The career fair will be held in Cyr Hall and in Nadeau Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Employers from the Northeast and Canada will be in attendance to discuss career options and position openings.

Students and community members will have the opportunity to meet representatives from numerous employers throughout the region.

In the past, UMFK has hosted such events, but typically they were only opened to the student body.

"With the recent announcement of the closure of the MBNA call center in Fort Kent and in response to the economic and labor needs of the St. John Valley, this career fair will also serve members of the greater UMFK community," said Fecinta.

The day will also include resume writing workshops and financial aid exit interviews for graduating university students.

If you plan on attending, you may consider bringing copies of your resume for consideration.

"UMFK has always been dedicated to serving the needs of the entire local area?s population. This is one way the campus can give back to a community that has given the campus so much," notes Fecinta.

Those interested in registering early for the resume workshop or for further information on Career Day, contact the student success office at 834-7593.
