The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host its annual “Sucrerie” on Thursday, March 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nowland Hall.
The event features a traditional maple taffy pull on the snow, an Acadian meal and live entertainment. A fee of $7 per plate will be charged for the Acadian meal.
The maple taffy pull and taste testing are free to the public. The public is encouraged to attend the “Sucrerie.”
Warren Harvey and Joan Blier both of Fort Kent will perform several French Acadian musical pieces that are favorites of many residents of the St. John Valley.
Serving the “ployes” during the Acadian meal, will be staff and student volunteers from the UMFK campus community who will dress in Acadian costumes provided by the Greater Madawaska Chamber of Commerce.
