Join in the Fun Citizen Biathlon Event

March 13, 2007

On Saturday, March 17th, 10th Mountain Lodge in Fort Kent is holding, as part of their 2007 Festival at Fort Kent, a Citizen Biathlon Event. You have a choice of two events - the 3K race or the 6K race. You don't need to bring anything, only yourself and a willingness to attempt one of the most popular winter sports in the world.

In the 3K race you ski 1 kilometer, take your five shots at the target, ski a second 1K , shoot again, and ski a final 1K, giving you the total 3K distance. The 6K race is set up, essentially, the same way, with you skiing 2K's, taking your shots at the target, skiing another 2K's, shooting again, and skiing a final 2K's. Rifles, ammunition, and instructions are provided at the lodge, no need to bring your own.

This event is open to everyone, all ages and levels are welcome. Coaching is provided, and all activities during this event are free. Please feel free to come all day and enjoy the skiers participating throughout the day, see the Fan-of-the-Day contest, enjoy a day in the snow, and end it with a race of your very own. Registration for the Citizen Biathlon Event will be at the 10th Mountain Lodge the day of the event, Saturday, March 17th from 9 am to 12 noon. The Citizen Biathlon Competition training will start at 12:30 with the start at 1:00 pm.

TD Banknorth will also be on hand with their adventure tent - fun for the whole family. So please, come support some of the top athletes in North America and help give them all a warm Aroostook County welcome. Come join us for a day of fun and snow, skiing and prizes.
