July 6, 2009

Here is a sample of what you will see at three different exhibits held at the University of Maine at Fort Kent during The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI) annual international conference.  A scientific illustration exhibit will be held in the Acadian Archives. Another exhibit will show what natural science illustration is, and how its scope is much broader, including work that is inspired by natural science subjects but may not be part of a specific inquiry, which will be held in the Blake Library Gallery. The last exhibit is a display of publications in which guild members have illustrated a substantial part or of all of a published book, journal, or other print or CD medium. The publications include work for children, hard sciences, popular works, and self-published work. An opening reception has been scheduled on Wednesday, July 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. All exhibits may be viewed during regular business hours through Monday, July 20. For more information, contact gallery curator Sophia Birden at 834-7527.
