The University of Maine at Fort Kent has announced that University of Maine System is offering Osher Scholarships of up to $750.
Interested applicants must be a resident of Maine, must be a high school graduate or a GED recipient, and be committed to completing a 100-level or 200-level development course. Additionally, applicants must not have completed a college course through the University of Maine System.
The scholarship will be applied toward tuition, required books and all fees associated with the course. To qualify, a student must enroll in a course at UMFK, on-line course or an ITV site in Van Buren, Eagle Lake or Madawaska.
The Osher Scholarships encourage Maine residents to pursue higher education.
“We have had a number of success stories with this program,” said Donald Eno, academic outreach coordinator at UMFK. Now is the time to apply for this coming fall.”
According to Eno, the program continues to be popular, with an average of four or five students participating each semester.
“We have had non-traditional students as well as recent high school graduates participate,” added Eno. “It is great that the Osher Foundation continues to fund this program.”
