Allie Madore Awarded Scholarship from Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation

The trustees of the Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation (MeHEAF) and Maine Association of Community Banks (MACB) has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Allie Madore of Fort Kent.
On behalf of MACB, Kathleen Meehan made the presentation to Madore at a special luncheon held at the University’s Acadia House with members of the faculty, administration, Allie’s parents, Paul and Donna.
UMFK President, Dr. Richard W. Cost, and his wife, Ellen, hosted the luncheon.
Madore is a junior pursuing a major in business management at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, who maintains a high grade-point average. She is a 2007 graduate of Fort Kent Community High School. Currently, she is working on her internship at Lee R. Theriault, CPA.
The Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation was established in the 1950’s to support a guarantee fund for student loans. The founders included a wide range of banks, businesses, community organizations and individuals. In 1990, the MeHEAF trustees, to continue the original intent of the founding members, initiated a scholarship program funded by the return on the original loan guarantee funds until 2009. It now is managed by the successor organization, the MACB, located in Portland.
Participating school select scholarship recipients, who are in their second, third, or fourth year of study and who are Maine high school graduates majoring in a business-related subject. Recipients are chosen based good academic standing. All scholarships are awarded for second semester expenses.
