UMFK campus to participate in "Wear Red Day"

January 28, 2008

On Friday, February 1, the University of Maine at Fort Kent campus community will join the American Heart Association’s (AHA) fight against heart disease by encouraging everyone to participate by wearing red to work to help raise women’s awareness of cardiovascular disease and empower women to reduce their risk.

“We are proud to be joining the American Heart Association, concerned companies and organizations across America in the fight against the number one killer of women, as well as of men. “Wear Red Day” is a chance for us to arm ourselves with knowledge about this devastating disease," said Eric Russell, UMFK’s assistant director of residential life and wellness.

An informational booth will be set-up in Cyr Hall.  Russell will be handing out red ribbons for people to wear, just to make ensure that everyone has something red on. There also will be a photo taken at 10 a.m. in the Bengal’s Lair of everyone who is wearing red on Friday, February 1.
