UMFK Bengal basketball players earn Sunrise Conference honors

The University of Maine at Fort Kent men's and women's basketball players have earned individual honors for the play on the court this week.

On the women's side for Coach Lucas Levesque's Lady Bengals, two players earned honors.

Junior guard Nicole Corbin of Van Buren has been named Sunrise Conference Player of the Week for her play in a 3-0 week.

Corbin averaged 22 points per game in the three wins including a career-high 35 points against Saint Joseph's College.

Corbin currently ranks second in the Sunrise in point per game and free throw percentage and she is first in three-point shooting.

Freshmen Arcilla Jefferes of St. Kits was named to the Rookie of the Week honor roll.

On the men's team for Coach Eric Werntgen, two players earned honors.

Sophomore Rytis Kriunas of Vilnius, Lithuania was named to the Player of the Week honor roll and freshmen Hamill Bassue of St. Kitts was named to the Rookie of the Week honor roll.
