The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host a Financial Health Fair for its faculty, staff and students on Tuesday, January 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in UMFK's Nadeau Hall.
UMFK is sponsoring the fair to promote the financial well-being of its faculty, staff and students. The goal of the fair is to help employees and students become familiar with the resources available to them on campus and in the community, and to encourage responsible financial planning at all stages of their careers.
Local financial vendors have been invited to set up information booths offering investment and savings advice for UMFK employees and students to visit. Representatives of participating institutions will be on hand to answer questions.
Participating vendors include: Acadia Federal Credit Union; Bradley & Johndrow, LLC; Key Bank; NorState Federal Credit Union; Prudential; TD Banknorth; TIAA-CREF; University Credit Union; Commonwealth Financial Network and Valic Financial Advisors, Inc.
The Financial Health Fair is part of a week-long calendar of events promoting financial health. Other events include a Public Broadcasting System feature: "Can You Afford to Retire" scheduled for Monday, January 29 at 12 noon; Monster.com's "Monster Trak: Ultimate Money Skills - Scholars, Dollars, Budgets & Bills," on Tuesday, January 30 from 2 to 3 p.m., and individual financial counseling sessions with TIAA-CREF representative Jackie Edwards, all day Wednesday, January 31 and Thursday, February 1.
