Devin Michaud, a Biology major at the University of Maine at Fort Kent has begun training at the Twin Rivers Paper Company in Madawaska, under an internship made available through Buckman USA. Buckman USA is a global specialty chemical company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee.

Michaud, a native of Madawaska, is a 2008 graduate of Madawaska High School, received the internship after learning about it through UMFK's newly-revamped Career Planning and Internship Placement office.

The Career Planning and Internship Placement office received an e-mail from John Desjardins, (UMFK Class of 1993), last fall, regarding an internship at the Madawaska mill through Buckman USA. Desjardins is Buckman USA's regional sales manager of paper technology. It was a paid internship with the possibility of full-time employment.

The Career Planning and Internship Placement office staff notified Biology faculty of the internship availability and posted it outside their office, where it caught Devin's attention.

Desjardins met with Michaud on the UMFK campus last semester for an informal interview. Prior to their meeting, Devin had prepared his resume, a cover letter, and polished his interview skills.

All of Devin's preparation was worth it. Desjardins offered Michaud the position, which he began this past week.
