New photo exhibition explores 'picture walks'

January 11, 2009

The University of Maine at Fort Kent’s Blake Library gallery will showcase a photo exhibition entitled “Zen Walking” by UMFK student Katie Levesque.

The exhibit can be viewed through Friday, January 29 during regular library hours. The exhibition is a collection of photographs that Levesque took during her time walking. “It is wondrous what one can discover by a mere walk to her or his destination,” notes Katie.

Photography is her Zen.  Levesque loves to be outside and to be part of the land. She catches moments with her camera lens, such as new budding spring flowers, falling into winter with every leaf blown to the ground or snow melting from the earth revealing trash thrown out of car windows.

Katie Levesque currently is a junior majoring in English with a minor in art. She was born and raised in Fort Kent. She knows for certain that her journey began in Fort Kent and that Fort Kent has molded the person and the artist that she is today.
