Tis the season to sing...

December 18, 2008

ForestSong, a group of friends in the Fort Kent area, performed at the Christ Church Congregational “Holiday concert” on Friday, December 12.  The audience listened to holiday carols, such as Christmas Time Is Here (from Charlie Brown’s Christmas), Rise Up Shepherd, The Evergreen Tree, to name a few.

The members present at the concert were Mariella Squire, Tamara Mitchell, Sophia Birden, Jackie Ritz, Marcie Selva, Jeannine Haley, Lawrence Workman, Richard Cost, Patrick Stamp, Paul Libby, Janet Nadeau, Scott Voisine, Joanne Zafonte (accompanying pianist) and Charles Closser (maestro).

During the evening, the audience listened to two solos, one by Mariella Squire who sang The Greatest Gift of All and Scott Voisine sang Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Applause was heard after every song and the church was filled with many church members, UMFK supporters and community members.

ForestSong is co-sponsored by the University of Maine at Fort Kent and Christ Congregational Church. Forest Song has been in existence since 2004. The group is dedicated to creating music for public enjoyment.  ForestSong offers its members the enjoyment of participating in music creation in a variety of genres, as well as the potential for growth in the musical arts.

ForestSong meets Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Christ Church Congregational.
