The University of Maine at Fort Kent will offer a real estate sales agent course during the 2007 spring semester. The course will be offered on-line via the University's ITV program.
The course is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Annex Building in Room 11. The four-credit class will begin on January 16, 2007 and last for fifteen weeks. Attendance to all class sessions is mandatory.
The class will be offered at all ITV sites at the University college centers and community course sites of the University of Maine System. The sites provide statewide access to courses and degrees for those who cannot pursue studies at the UMFK campus.
The real estate sales agent course meets the requirements of the Maine Real Estate Commission for preparation to sit for the state level exam. The course covers 55 hours of class time, plus a minimum of three quizzes and a final exam.
Topics that will be covered in the course include an industry overview and organization, Maine Real Estate Commission, agency relationships, product knowledge, property valuation and the appraisal process, financing the transaction, contracts, closing, and miscellaneous federal and state laws governing real estate activities.
Students will develop the skills necessary to pass the sales agent exam from lectures and an understanding and appreciation of the skills and knowledge that the real estate professional has acquired in working towards the process of getting licensed in the state of Maine as a sales agent, associate broker or designated broker.
