UMFK Blake Library Gallery to feature exhibit by Allagash native Darrell McBreairty

The University of Maine at Fort Kent's Blake Library Gallery will feature an exhibit of photographs by UMFK alumnus Darrell McBreairty, entitled "Allagash Summers: The Philip Calvin Hughey Sr. Photographs. " The photos were taken in the 1930s and 1940s in Allagash, Maine by the Reverend Philip Hughey, Sr. The collection of photographs will be on display through Thursday, September 30.
The exhibition contains a series of photos of hand-tinted lantern slide and black and white images of river drivers, farming operation, and community members. The exhibit will coinside with the publication of Allagash Summers: The Philip Calvin Hughey Sr. Photographs by McBreairty.
Photographer and Maine author, Darrell McBreairty, who wrote Alcatraz Eel: The John Statig Files, also has published a collection of poetry called Lamentations in Two Parts.
McBreairty's collections can be viewed in the Blake Library Gallery Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 to 9 p.m.
