The University of Maine at Fort Kent athletic department will host a 5k run on September 17, in conjunction with the University's Come to Campus Days celebration and Greater Fort Kent Area Scarecrow Festival.
The run is open to all age groups and begins at 9:00 a.m. at the UMFK SportsCenter.
Race-day registration and number pick-up will begin at 8:00 a.m. The first 30 people to register will receive a race t-shirt.
The fee for the race is $10, with proceeds to benefit UMFK athletics.
Racers will compete in four different age groupings: under age 18, age 18 through 29, age 30 through 44, and age 45 and up.
The course was designed by Jamerson Crowley, current Fort Kent Community High School boys and girls cross country coach and a former UMFK coach.
Crowley will also be working with the newly appointed UMFK cross country coach, Roy Michaud in the organization of the event.
For more information contact Eric Werntgen in the UMFK athletic department at 834-7828 or visit www.umfk.maine.edu/athletics/intrcolgt/5K to fill out an on-line registration form.

On Sunday, September 18, the UMFK soccer squads will face off against Lyndon State College, with the women in action at 12:00 noon and the men at 2:00 p.m.
