UMFK Men's Soccer NAIA Preseason No. 11

August 17, 2010

The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s soccer team will begin 2010 as the number 11 team in NAIA soccer as the national office released the 2010 NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll on Tuesday evening.  The Bengals have been to the NAIA postseason the last four years and have captured four straight Sunrise Conference titles.

They have hosted a NAIA National Championship Opening Round game the last two seasons and reached a school record number five ranking in 2009.

They were up-set in the Opening Round last season but advanced to the Elite 8 in 2008.

Coach Ashby’s Bengals were 17-1-1 a year ago and will return nine of eleven starters this season when they put a 53 game regular season unbeaten streak on the line August 26 in Fort Kent in a season opening contest vs. NAIA school Roberts Wesleyan (NY) out of the American Mideast Conference.
