Photos: Investing in our future

April 5, 2007

Three St. John Valley businesses recently sponsored the purchase of new microscopes for use in the University of Maine at Fort Kent science laboratories. Northern Maine Medical Center, Katahdin Trust Company and Daigle and Houghton, Inc. each contributed the full cost of the $1,200 microscopes. The University has displayed the names of the supporting businesses on the front of the microscopes used by its students. Steven Selva, professor of biology and environmental studies, is shown in each photo here demonstrating the new microscopes to representative of the three supporting businesses: Martin Bernstein, chief executive officer of Northern Maine Medical Center, Fort Kent; Rena Bouchard, vice-president and branch manager of Katahdin Trust Company, Van Buren; and Gary Daigle, vice-president of Daigle & Houghton, Inc., Fort Kent.
