The University of Maine at Fort Kent’s Student Teacher Education Professional Society (STEPS) presented a check last weekend for $300 to the Aroostook Mental Health Center (AMHC) to help in its work to assist victims of sexual abuse.

The money is the proceeds of a bake sale held by STEPS members earlier this month to raise money and public awareness that April is Sexual Assault Victims Awareness Month.

STEPS members presented the check to AMHC representative Kathrine Saucier during the Fort Kent Rotary International’s Earth Day event at the Fort Kent Public Library.

Ms. Saucier, through the sponsorship of STEPS, will present a seminar on how to recognize child sexual abuse on Wednesday, April 29 at 6 p.m. in UMFK's Nadeau Teleconference Room.  The seminar is free and open to the public. ###
