The University of Maine at Fort Kent campus community will present a spring concert on Sunday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fox Auditorium.
Preparations are well underway with a complete line-up of talented students and the local community chorus.
The event will feature an evening of songs from various famous Disney films and Broadway musicals.
The audience will also experience music such as American and British folk songs and even a touch of classical repertoire will be heard during the evening.
Performers in the show will include students from two music classes instructed by Scott Brickman, UMFK associate professor of music. They will be singing along with members of the UMFK Campus/Community Chorus.
Many of the students featured in the concert are enrolled in a new course offered for the first time this semester on the UMFK campus. Beginning voice is a class designed, in part, to encourage student interest in the well known UMFK Campus/Community Chorus.
Brickman, who has been involved in many of the university's concerts, plays and numerous musical events, will accompany the choral group on the piano.
The spring concert will include solos by students and community members.
"The event will provide something special for everyone at any age," said Brickman. "From some favorite tunes made famous by Disney to music from the 'Great White Way', we will present a great evening of music."
The concert is open to the public free of charge.
