The University of Maine at Fort Kent academic outreach office is hosting a financial workshop on Wednesday, May 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Nadeau Hall teleconference room.
The workshop will be presented by James L. Clifford of NORTHPOINT Financial Services and Edmund J. Quirion II, of the New England Financial Group of Companies.
The two companies' experience combined total more than 40 years of experience in serving, preserving and building wealth for their clients. Financial Planning and Philanthropy Foundation, a national heritage foundation, will sponsor this event.
Topics covered will include how charitable contributions may quadruple your annual income, more than triple your children's inheritance and eliminate capital gains and estate taxes; how to make the new tax laws work to your benefit with sophisticated estate planning tools and how to avoid the 50 percent error rate on IRA distributions.
Participants will also learn how family wealth preservation strategies will avoid probate, avoid estate taxes, avoid loss of assets to nursing home costs or lawsuits, and preserve wealth for yourself and your family.
Those attendees interested in charitable giving will learn about establishing donor involved family foundations and promoting family's values for generations.
"With the recent issues surrounding corporate fraud and its effects on retirement and investment funds, you can never have too much information regarding the options available for financial planning," said Don Eno, coordinator for academic outreach.
Individuals who attend the workshop will be offered a free financial consultation and financial analysis.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
