"UMFK 125: The Musical" gets under way at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday evening, April 22, in the Fox Auditorium at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Tickets are still available for each evening's performance for purchase at the door on a first come first serve basis.
Every detail is coming together for the cast and crew of over 30 participants involved in UMFK's 125th anniversary production "The Musical". The production, which features 14 original musical compositions and a humorous script, will be presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. each night.
"We hope it's a celebration of the next 125 years", said Charles Closser author of "UMFK 125: The Musical".
The support and cooperation from the community, UMFK and its alumni add to the spirit felt in Fort Kent as ticket sales continue to be sold on a daily basis.
Cast members involved with "UMFK 125: The Musical" are still having fun and are excited to stage their musical comedy that highlights memorable moments in the history of UMFK.
"I'd like everyone's hard work to result in a multitude of smiling faces and good feelings among the cast and the audience members," says Scott Brickman creator of the musical score.
"This isn't about 'me and my work'- this is about the St. John Valley and the people that have made this institution work in the past and will see it work in the future," adds Brickman.
What has been rehearsed for months is an example of a long term commitment of a dedicated group of individuals.
"The true test will be whether we have inspired the campus/community to get involved in future productions and celebrate the creative arts," concludes Brickman.
Tickets can still be purchased in advance for the weekend performances at the UMFK university relations office.
Commemorative t-shirts are being sold in the university relations office for $12.50. Supplies are limited.
