April 2, 2009
The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. in the campus Sports Center.
The blood drive is sponsored by the UMFK Student Nurses' Organization (SNO). A table will be set-up for individuals to make an appointment in Cyr Hall on Monday and Tuesday.
One thousand-four hundred pints of blood must be collected every working day in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont to meet patient needs. The New England Red Cross Region serves 170 hospitals. Over the past three years, one million fewer people have donated blood.
Individuals who donate blood at an American Red Cross donor center or blood drive in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont or Connecticut between March 16 and October 4, 2009 may enter for a chance to win two tickets to a designated game at Fenway Park, a special commemorative souvenir and a photograph, as well as special recognition.
