April 11, 2011

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation raised more than $14,000 at its annual dinner and performance held on Saturday evening, April 9 on the UMFK campus. Proceeds from the fundraising event help support endowed scholarships and investments not budgeted for in the University’s operating budget.

The annual event included a social and five-course gourmet dinner in Nowland Hall catered and donated by Aramark food services.
The Foundation presented its annual faculty research award to UMFK Associate Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies, Dr. Stephen E. Hansen, for his wildlife and water-quality research in northern Maine.
Following dinner, musical entertainment for the gala evening was provided by Eight Strings and a Whistle in Fox Auditorium.  The evening ended on a delicious note with a post-performance dessert and champagne reception held in the Nadeau Hall Teleconference Room.
The Foundation is grateful for the support of all of the dinner sponsors. Gold sponsors: Acadia Federal Credit Union; the Family of Ben (’67) and Nancy (’67) Paradis; St. John Vianney Parish Newman Club; and, UMFK President Wilson G. and Ellie Hess. Silver sponsors: Cross Winds Residential Care and Ridgewood Estates; NorState Federal Credit Union; John’s Shurfine Food Store; Paradis Shop ‘n Save Supermarket; and, UMFK faculty members Dave Hobbins and Roland K. Caron. Bronze sponsors: Doris’ Café; Roy Auto Parts; and, TD Bank.
