The University of Maine at Fort Kent graduating seniors received their degrees at the 136th commencement exercises held at UMFK’s Sports Center on May 12. University President John N. Short presided over the ceremony that conferred 205 baccalaureate degrees and 29 associate degrees.
Also at the commencement ceremony, Greg Disy was honored with the University’s Distinguished Service Award for his many years of service to the campus community.
Dora Anne Mills, MD, MPH, FAAP, addressed the graduating class, providing words of wisdom and life lessons.
Shawnee Ellis, senior class president, addressed her fellow graduates. Ellis is from New Vineyard, Maine and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Baccalaureate degrees that were awarded: Arts and Sciences (13); Behavioral Science (12); Biology (9); Business (13); Computer Applications (5); Conservation Law Enforcement (1); Cyber Security (3); Elementary Education (2); English (2); Environmental Studies (3); French (1); Nursing (126); and Public Safety Administration (14) and Social Science (1).
Associate degrees that were awarded: Accounting (3); Applied Forest Management (6); Business Management (2); Conservation Law Enforcement (5): Criminal Justice (9); Emergency Management (2); and General Studies (2).
