For students with an account balance and a past due account hold:

  • Owe less than $1,000.00 student must see Administrative Specialist II.
  • Owe between $1,000.00 and $5,500.00 student must see Director of Administrative Services. 
  • Owe greater than $5,500.00 student must see Vice President for Administration.

If a satisfactory payment arrangement is made, the One Stop can override the Past Due Service Indicator to register the student. All payment arrangements should be done in writing by using a payment plan form or a promissory note. All payment arrangements must have appropriate documentation. Student must then be placed in a payment plan, and coded with a service indicator for the payment plan. All agreements and supporting documentation must be scanned into the Image Now System. 

If payment arrangements are not followed there are serious ramifications to the student such as: prevention of registration from all University of Maine System schools, possible cancellation of current registration, and withholding of transcripts. If the University is unable to collect on a student account, the account may be sent to an outside collection agency.
