Reaffirming the stated policy defined in the Fall 2002 semester by Interim VPAA Gary Johnson eight (8) students is considered a minimum acceptable enrollment for a course to be delivered as an overload assignment for a core faculty member or as an instructional assignment for adjunct and other part-time faculty members. Courses with enrollments less than eight (8) may be permitted to proceed given extraordinary circumstances. The Vice President for Academic Affairs will determine the meaning of “extraordinary”. Faculty and the Vice President for Academic Affairs may negotiate an alternative payment model for said classes if appropriate on a case by case basis (ie: teach students as directed studies accept a pro-rated payment etc.) Prior to the start of each semester the Vice President for Academic Affairs will meet with the division chairs to collectively discuss the viable circumstances of each course with an enrollment under eight (8) before courses are officially cancelled.
