I chose UMFK because of its proximity and the reputation it has for the nursing program. Wherever you go in Maine, one thing remains constant, UMFK is known for its top-shelf program and faculty.
The UMFK nursing program prepared me well for my current and future roles by providing a solid curriculum rooted in evidence-based practice. UMFK has developed strong alliances with regional healthcare facilities that allow students to experience a broad spectrum of clinical environments. The attention to scholarly growth in research and writing skills, along with the individual attention and coaching provided by the faculty, prepares students well for graduate studies after graduating from UMFK.
The tidbit I would like to share with potential students is that UMFK empowers each and every student to make a difference by providing opportunities to take the classroom into the global realm. I would encourage students to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in UMFK Partners for International Relief. The impact of traveling with your peers to remote areas of the world and delivering humanitarian relief will leave an indelible mark that will change you in ways you can only imagine. UMFK will transform you as a student and mold you into a responsible global citizen!
I am an Assistant Professor of Nursing at UMFK, and I am currently enrolled in graduate school pursuing a DNP degree with the goal of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.
