The following information are some things the IT Staff thinks you need to know about computer labs on the UMFK campus.
To provide UMFK students with the best possible computing experience, the UMFK lab computers have a product called Faronics DeepFreeze installed. This product keeps the computers in a state setup by the IT Office by erasing changes upon restart. Because of this, it is extremely important that you don't save your work on the computers hard drive, which includes My Documents and the Desktop.
Every UMFK student is given space on Google Drive to save files. Google Drive is not effected by DeepFreeze, which means if the computer is restarted your files will still be saved. You will need to login to the UMFK Portal, and then choose Google Drive to access the files. A student's Google Drive can only be accessed by that student, but you can share certain files with anyone you choose. Students can also access their Google Drive from home but accessing the portal and choosing Google Drive.
The UMFK lab computers all have USB ports available for use. You can plug a USB flash drive into one of these ports and save your work on it. USB drives are also not effected by DeepFreeze, which means if the computer is restarted your files will still be saved on the thumb drive.
