It's a busy open to the 2021 Fall Semester on the University of Maine at Fort Kent campus, but let's pause just a moment to welcome new colleagues to our learning community.

Stephanie Nadeau, Clinical Placement and Testing Coordinator

We are pleased to welcome Stephanie Nadeau as Clinical Placement and Testing Coordinator in the Nursing Program. Stephanie comes to us from MSAD # 33 where she has held the role of School Nurse for the past nine years and is also an active staff member at Cary Medical Center. In her new role, Stephanie will be responsible for negotiating and arranging clinical experiences which meet the education requirements of students enrolled in the nursing program. She is an alumni of UMFK where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration & Leadership from USM. Stephanie's first day with UMFK will be October 1.

David McDermott, Certified Athletic Trainer

We are pleased to welcome David McDermott, Certified Athletic Trainer, to UMFK. David is familiar with UMFK having previously done some athletic training work at UMFK. He is a graduate of UMPI with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. In his new role, David will work directly with student athletes and all coaches in the administration of their programs regarding health care for student athletes. David's first day with UMFK was on September 1.

Zsakiyah "Ziggy" Brown, Head Women's Basketball Coach & Sports Information Director

Please welcome Ziggy Brown as our new Women's Basketball Coach/Sports Information Director. Ziggy is an alumni of UMFK with a Bachelor of Arts & Science degree. She also received a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sociology & Management from the University of Essex in Colchester, UK and is currently working on her Master's in Business Administration. Ziggy has several collegiate athletic experiences in higher education including Athletic Director, Women's Volleyball Coach, Women's Basketball Coach & Assistant Compliance Director. Ziggy's first day at UMFK was September 1.

Patrick Lacroix, Director of Acadian Archives

Please welcome Patrick Lacroix as our new Director of Acadian Archives. Patrick comes to UMFK from Pearson Vue in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he served as Test Center Manager. He also has a background as an instructor at Mount Saint Vincent University and Acadia University in Nova Scotia as well as Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N. H. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of New Hampshire, a Master's from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario and a Bachelor's in History, Public Administration & Public Policy from Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec. His skills in grant writing and knowledge of the history of the St. John Valley and the Acadian people made him a top candidate. He is also fluent in both the written and oral French language. Patrick's first day on campus will be October 4.

Jacob Theriault, Registrar

Jacob Theriault has been serving in the role of Associate Registrar for the past two years and we are pleased to announce that Jacob has accepted an interim role as Registrar. Jake will oversee the Registrar Department which will provide both traditional and online course offerings in a variety of formats. Jake is a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington where he received a Bachelor's degree in Biology. Jacob started his new role August 15.

Please look for Stephanie, David, Ziggy, Patrick, and Jake on campus this fall and congratulate them on their new roles at UMFK!
